A diesel particulate filter (or DPF) is a device designed to remove diesel particulate matter or soot from the exhaust gas of a diesel engine. Wall-flow diesel particulate filters usually remove 85% or more of the soot, and under certain conditions can attain soot removal efficiencies of close to 100%.
2010 HONDA CIVIC 2.2 DIESEL - Do I have DPF? I'm trying to source some engine oil for my Honda Civic 2010 (UK) but when I enter the registration number on oil manufacturers websites they suggest DPF and non DPF options but I'm not sure if mine has one? Is there any way to find out except from my local dealer who I'm hesitant to ring as they
cosmicma said: on the more modern cars the DPF isn't as much of an issue as it once was. Youd be surprised. Autocar's long term Insignia had to have its DPF replaced after only 700 miles. And they managed only a disgusting 35mpg for an all signing all dancing 2.0 whisper diesel. So much for progress.
The 2.2 SkyActiv-D engine had a diesel particulate filter (DPF). Without a filter, as all modern engines, it would not satisfy exhaust gas emissions standards such as Euro VI in Europe. To summarize, the new turbodiesel is 10% lighter and 20% more fuel efficient than its predecessor.
If your Toyota car was manufactured after 2010, then it is very likely to have been fitted with a Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) which is a device designed to remove harmful particulates from entering the atmosphere, simply by removing the soot particles from the Exhaust before they are expelled. Unfortunately, DPF’s are less than reliable

Step 4 – Remove the strainer and replace the pump. Now that the pump is disconnected, grab it and pull it upwards. Make sure your drip pan is handy because the fuel strainer can drip fuel. Once the fuel pump strainer is out, perform the following steps: Disconnect the top plug. Remove the strainer clamp.

2.2 Power Loss When Under Hard Acceleration. In the last 3 or 4 weeks my 2.2 has suffered a sudden momentary large power loss when under hard acceleration in 2nd and 3rd gear. The first time I noticed it I came off a roundabout on a wet road and booted it in 3rd. It almost felt as though I had hit the rev limiter, but I definitely hadn't.
B1238 = A problem in the passenger s air mix control linkage, door, or motor. B1235 = A problem in the driver s air mix control linkage, door, or motor. So neither would be related to an engine problem, which would begin with a 'P', e.g. P1059. The ECU stores codes, so these are probably old problems that are now sorted.

Go diesel I would say, its a more relaxed drive than the petrol which you have to work to get the best out of it.

Honda Civic - Honda Civic 2.2 i-CTDI - any known issues?. Have spotted one of these I am really keen on with about 25k on the clock inc full dealer service history. ; Are there any known issues or problems with these that I should look out for?  I seem to remember reading about them using an excessive amount of oil but not sure if that was just someone with a problem car.

Helpfull hint evey now and again drive aggresivley (not at other drivers), reving the engine hard, this will keep your DPF clean and avoid having to replace or get All Honda Cars, fitted with the I-DTEC engine will have a DPF system fitted from the factory. Care should be taken in relation to the servicing of any Honda I-DTEC diesel car, to ensure that the correct Low Ash oil is used at each engine oil change. OBDii Powertrain Codes.
