My Fiesta ST (2014) had a similar issue. Apparently the Keyless Entry has a sensor built into the door handle and a control module underneath the passenger seat. Ford replaced the module under the seat eventually under a couple of days investigation, but were sure it was the handle as it's quite common with Keyless entry problems.
First my speedo died a few months ago, and now my keyless entry seems to have given up. About 2 weeks ago keyfob #2 suddenly quit working, no warning, no loss of range, just stopped working. Turn ignition off, replace a new key, turn on ignition within 15 sec. Program completed. Manually reprogram remote control: 1.Switch ignition off and remove key. 2.Insert a key and switch ignition on. 3.Press any button of the remote key for 10 sec then release within 20 sec. 4. Switch ignition off and remove key. Test the remote key.
